Look Presets & Categories

A 'preset' is a pre-defined combination of a color treatment and tool choices. PhotoLooks 2 presets are designed for real world projects and will also give inspiration as you work. This preset gives you a premade storytelling device that manipulates the colors, saturation and brightness in a shot. When you reach for a preset, you can choose based on the type of shot or style of project that you are working on. There are nine categories that have a range of color treatments in each category, from practical lighting fixes to stylized Hollywood PhotoLooks. Browse the presets.

In PhotoLooks 2, the sort order of presets is from the modified file date, newest to oldest. This displays the newest and most used presets at the top of a category. This sort behavior helps you organize presets, especially you save presets in the order you want them to appear. NOTE: The sort order of presets was alphabetical in PhotoLooks 1.

New categories: Good for a type of shot or style of project. The category names will guide you to relevant treatments. For instance, use a People preset when working on a beauty shot.

Saving a custom preset

You can easily save custom PhotoLooks for use in later projects. When you save a custom preset, that preset appears in a PhotoLooks Drawer category called Custom PhotoLooks.

The name of the current preset is shown at the bottom left of the Information Bar. As soon as you adjust the preset settings or work on your own look using the PhotoLooks tools, the name label will display as 'Untitled Look'. Double-click the Look Name to enter a custom name.

The new look is saved as a .MBLook file to your hard drive. Read details on this page.

Compatibility with PhotoLooks 1

The Looks Drawer will look different if PhotoLooks 1 is installed on your system. If you only have PhotoLooks 2 installed, you will see only the PhotoLooks 2 categories (shown above).

If you have both PhotoLooks 1 and PhotoLooks 2 installed, you will see the display below. The PhotoLooks 2 categories display first. Below them are the PhotoLooks 1 categories that were not carried over into PhotoLooks 2. If you uninstall PhotoLooks 1, the PhotoLooks 1 categories will be removed.

There is a similar backward compatibility for PhotoLooks 1 tools, which you can read about here.
